Radiator Support Repair
The radiator support is the cross-member at the front of the car that holds the radiator, condenser, headlights, bonnet latch and fans. It is the first structural piece behind the bumper in a front impact, and it is often cracked or bent even when the bumper looks mildly damaged. Replacing it correctly matters for cooling as much as for appearance.

Signs you need radiator support repair
- Headlights misaligned or loose after a front impact
- The bonnet does not shut properly or sits proud of the wings
- A radiator or air-conditioning condenser leaking or visibly pushed back
- Overheating or poor air conditioning after a front-end accident
- A rattle or movement at the front of the car when you push on the bumper
- Gaps along the front of the bonnet that are uneven side to side
- Fan shroud or air ducts hanging loose or missing after repairs elsewhere
What usually causes it
Front collisions
A hit at the front transfers force to the support, which is often a composite or plastic assembly on newer cars and cracks easily.
Low-speed impacts with hidden damage
A knock at car-park speed can break the mounting tabs and leave the radiator sitting loose without any obvious sign.
Corrosion on steel supports
On older steel types, rust around the mounts weakens the support so that even a small impact breaks it.
Poor earlier repair
Plastic welded without reinforcement, or metal pulled without measuring, leaves misalignment that affects the bonnet and lights.
How we do radiator support repair
- 1
Open up the front end
Bumper, grille and lights are removed to see the support, radiator, condenser and fan. Cracks and distortion are measured.
- 2
Check the cooling and AC parts
The radiator and condenser are pressure tested for leaks, the fan is checked, and coolant and refrigerant condition are looked at.
- 3
Repair or replace the support
Some steel supports can be pulled back to measurements. Plastic or composite ones are generally replaced, with part options on the quote.
- 4
Rebuild and align
Radiator, condenser, headlights, latch and bumper go back in place. Headlight aim and bonnet gaps are adjusted.
- 5
Refill, regas and test
Coolant is refilled and bled, the AC is recharged if opened, and we run the car to temperature to check for leaks.
In Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman
In the UAE, a damaged radiator support is more than cosmetic. A cooling system working at its limit in 45-degree weather has no margin for a misaligned radiator or a missing air duct. Check the cooling system as part of any front-end repair, and make sure the shrouds and ducts that direct air through the radiator are refitted, as missing plastic parts are a common cause of overheating after repairs. Do not keep driving with a loose radiator, as the vibration can crack its tanks and take the condenser with it.
Questions about radiator support repair
Can the support be glued or welded back?
Plastic supports can sometimes be repaired, but a safety-relevant structural part is better replaced. We explain the choice.
Will the air conditioning need regassing?
If the condenser was disturbed or damaged, yes. We check for leaks and recharge as needed.
Is the headlight alignment part of the job?
Yes. Headlights are aimed after fitting.
Will I need a new radiator as well?
Only if testing finds a leak or damage. We test before recommending.
Is a leaking radiator the same as a damaged support?
No. They often go together after a front impact, but the radiator can leak on its own. We test both.
Will headlights be re-aimed after repair?
Yes, because the support holds them. Aim is checked and corrected before you collect the car.
