JVC is laid out in rings and districts, and many buildings share similar names, so a location pin is the quickest way for us to find the car. Book online, on WhatsApp or by phone, and tell us the district, the building or villa and where the car is parked.

The driver collects at the agreed time and walks around the car with you. After diagnosis we send an itemised quote on WhatsApp: the work, the parts you can choose between, and the price of each, and nothing is done until you approve the quote.

Routine work such as an oil service is usually done the same day, typically 4 to 8 hours after collection. Major repairs typically take 1 to 3 days, and the quote says how long. If you decline the quote, we bring the car back; the diagnosis is free only if you go ahead with the repair.

JVC has more speed bumps per kilometre than almost anywhere in Dubai. Taken at speed, or every day with a heavy SUV, they wear the shock absorbers, the anti-roll bar links and the suspension bushes. The first sign is usually a knock from the front over a bump, followed by a car that floats or wallows on the highway.

Each speed bump also loads the tyres and can knock the wheel alignment out over time. If the car pulls to one side or the inside edge of a front tyre is wearing faster than the rest, the alignment needs checking before the tyre is ruined.

There is still a lot of building going on across JVC, Arjan and Al Furjan. The fine dust gets into the AC through the cabin filter and coats the condenser at the front of the car. A musty smell when the AC starts, or weak airflow from the vents, often comes from a blocked cabin filter, which is a quick and inexpensive fix.

Most cars in JVC are family cars that do the school run, the supermarket and the drive to work on Al Khail Road or Hessa Street. Short, slow trips in heat are hard on batteries and brakes, and these are among the jobs we are booked for most from the area.

Many JVC families buy a larger second-hand SUV or seven-seater as the family grows. These cars have often done a lot of desert trips and school runs, and that shows in the suspension, the gearbox and the AC. Our pre-purchase inspection goes to the car, at a showroom or with a private seller, and checks the engine, gearbox, body, paint, electrics and fault codes before you pay a deposit. You get a written report, and the plans are AED 299, 399 or 799 depending on how many points are checked.

If you already own the car and want to know what is coming, a service with a full inspection gives you the same picture: the quote separates what is worn now from what can wait until the next service.
