Collection through the community gate

Arabian Ranches, Damac Hills, Mudon and most of their neighbours are gated, and security at the entrance checks visitors. When you book, register our driver as a visitor through your community's system or tell the gate to expect us, and send a pin for the villa. Without this, the driver can be held at the barrier.

The car can be collected from the driveway or the garage, with the key handed over by anyone at home. The driver checks the car, takes photos and sends them to you on WhatsApp before leaving the community.

These communities are a long drive from most of the city and from each other; Damac Hills 2 is well out along Al Qudra Road. Every cost is itemised on your written quote before you approve any work.

Large SUVs and long drives

Driveways here hold a lot of large SUVs: Land Cruisers, Patrols, Range Rovers, Tahoes and seven-seaters. They are heavy, and every trip to a school, a mall or an office is a long one on Al Qudra Road, Emirates Road or Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. That weight and distance wear brakes, tyres and suspension faster than on a smaller car.

A heavy SUV that pulls under braking, shakes through the steering at speed or clunks over the bumps inside the community has a problem worth checking before the next long drive. The quote separates what is worn now from what can wait until the next service.

After a weekend in the desert

The Al Qudra lakes and the dunes beyond are close by, and many families take the SUV off the tarmac at weekends. Soft sand with low tyre pressures, steep climbs and long idling in the heat leave marks on a car that do not always show straight away.

Sand packs into brake calipers and wheel bearings, clogs the radiator and the AC condenser, and gets past torn CV boots into the joints. Tyres that were not pumped back up after the trip wear their shoulders and overheat on the highway home. A check of the cooling system, brakes, CV boots, underbody and tyres after a desert trip catches most of this before it becomes a repair.

If you tow a horse trailer, a boat or a caravan, tell us when you book. Towing adds load to the gearbox, the brakes and the cooling system, and we check those with it in mind.

Diagnosis, quotes and timing

After collection the car is diagnosed at our workshop, and you receive an itemised quote on WhatsApp with each part and the labour. Diagnosis is free if you go ahead with the repair; if you do not, it is charged at an amount we agree before we start.

Routine work is usually back the same day, typically 4 to 8 hours after collection. Major repairs typically take 1 to 3 days, and the quote says how long. We reply on WhatsApp from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

Parts, warranty and buying a 4x4

You choose OEM, aftermarket or used parts for most repairs, and each option is priced on the quote. Selected items carry our parts and labour warranty, as the warranty page explains.

A second-hand 4x4 may have spent years in the dunes. Our pre-purchase inspection is done where the car is and looks at the engine, gearbox, body, paint, electrics and fault codes, with a written report before you pay a deposit. Plans cost AED 299, 399 or 799, and the higher plans check more points, which suits a car with a hard life behind it.

Arabian Ranches car repair questions

How does your driver get through our community gate?

Register the driver as a visitor through your community's system, or tell security to expect us, and send a pin for the villa. Tell us which gate to use if the community has more than one.

Should I get the car checked after a desert trip?

If it went into soft sand, it is a good idea. We look at the radiator and condenser, brakes, CV boots, underbody and tyres, and the quote lists only what needs attention.

Do you collect from Damac Hills 2?

Yes. It is further out than most areas we cover, and the pickup and delivery cost reflects the distance. It is itemised on your written quote before you approve the work.

My SUV tows a horse trailer. Does that change the service?

It can. Towing puts extra load on the gearbox, brakes and cooling system, so tell us when you book, and we check those parts with the extra load in mind.

How much is pickup and delivery from Arabian Ranches?

The cost depends on the distance from the villa to our workshop and back. It is itemised on your written quote before you approve any work.

Can you inspect a used Land Cruiser or Patrol before I buy it?

Yes. Pre-purchase inspections, battery replacement and diagnostic scans can be done where the car is. You get a written report, and plans are AED 299, 399 or 799.
