Service Overview
Suspension and steering parts keep the tyres on the road and the wheels pointing where you steer. Ball joints, bushes, control arms, shock absorbers, tie rods and the steering rack all wear slowly, and drivers tend to get used to a ride that has changed little by little.
We road test the car, then lift it and check each joint and bush for play before we recommend anything. The written quote lists the parts that are worn and those that still have life in them, and we align the car after any work that changes the wheel angles.

- Suspension RepairSuspension keeps the tyres on the road and holds the wheels in the right position. Ball joints, rubber bushes and control arms are the pivots and links that do this, and they wear quietly until the car clunks, wanders or wears its tyres unevenly. We find which link is loose, replace it and set the alignment afterwards.
- Shock Absorber & Strut ReplacementShock absorbers and struts control how fast the springs move. When they wear out the car keeps bouncing after a bump, dives under braking and takes longer to stop. A strut is also a structural part that locates the wheel, so replacing it is a larger job than swapping a plain shock.
- Steering Rack RepairThe steering rack turns the movement of the steering wheel into the sideways movement that points the front wheels. If it wears, leaks or its electric assist fails, the steering goes heavy, loose or noisy. We confirm the rack is the problem, then quote a repair or replacement.
- Power Steering Pump RepairOn hydraulic power steering, a belt-driven pump supplies the fluid pressure that makes the wheel light to turn. When the pump wears, leaks or takes in air, the steering whines and goes heavy. We find whether the pump, a hose or the fluid is at fault and fix that.
- Wheel Bearing ReplacementA wheel bearing lets the wheel spin freely on its hub with almost no friction. When it wears it hums, then growls, and a badly worn one can seize or loosen the wheel. We find which wheel is the problem, replace the bearing or hub unit and check that nothing else has been damaged.
- Tie Rod End ReplacementEach front wheel is steered by a tie rod, which ends in a small ball joint called the tie rod end. When it wears, the steering gets loose and the wheel can wobble. Replacing it is a short job, but only if the alignment is set afterwards.
