Bumper Repair & Replacement

A bumper is a painted plastic cover over a metal or composite reinforcement beam, crash absorbers and often sensors. The cover can often be repaired. The parts behind it need checking, because that is where the real protection and the wiring sit. Check behind the cover before judging the cost, because the cover is often the cheaper part of the damage.

Signs you need bumper repair & replacement

  • Cracks, holes or torn tabs where the bumper meets the body
  • Scrapes and scuffs along the corner from a car park bump
  • A bumper that sags, is pushed in, or no longer lines up with the panels
  • Parking sensors that beep constantly or not at all after a knock
  • Fog lights, grille or number plate brackets that have broken loose
  • Paint that is cracked in a spider-web pattern on a flexible bumper
  • Gaps along the top edge of the bumper after a push from a trolley or another car

What usually causes it

Low-speed contact

Car park and reversing bumps are the most common cause. The cover flexes and often springs back, but the clips and brackets can snap.

Heat and age

Plastic that has baked for years becomes brittle. A small knock that would once have bounced off now cracks it.

Damage to the beam behind

In a harder hit, the reinforcement beam and foam absorbers deform. They are designed to be replaced after a significant impact.

Sensor and camera disturbance

Parking sensors and radar units are mounted in the cover, and a small shift in position changes their field of view.

How we do bumper repair & replacement

  1. 1

    Remove the cover and inspect

We take the bumper off to see the beam, absorbers, brackets, wiring and sensors, which a visual look from the outside cannot reveal.

  2. 2

    Repair or replace the cover

Cracks and tears can be plastic-welded and reinforced from behind. Where damage is extensive, a new cover is fitted, with OEM or aftermarket options on the quote.

  3. 3

    Replace damaged supports

Beam, absorbers and brackets that are bent or crushed are replaced, not straightened, as they only work once.

  4. 4

    Paint, match and refit

The cover is primed with a flexible primer, painted to match and fitted with sensors and lights reconnected and tested.

Book bumper repair & replacement

In Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman

Tight parking and heavy stop-start traffic mean bumper damage is one of the commonest repairs in the UAE. The sun makes bumper paint age differently from metal panels, so a new bumper painted in the car's original colour can look different from a sun-faded body, and we blend to avoid that. Sensors should be tested after fitting, because some cars need them recalibrated.

Questions about bumper repair & replacement

Is it better to repair or replace?

A cover with local cracks and scuffs is often repaired for less. Wide cracking or missing chunks suggest replacement. The quote shows both choices.

Will my parking sensors still work?

They are refitted and tested. If the car also has a radar or camera, we check alignment and advise if calibration is needed.

Can you paint a new bumper to match?

Yes, using your car's paint code and blending where needed so there is no obvious difference from the body.

Do I need a police report for a bumper?

For insurance claims you may. Check your policy and the current rules for minor accidents.

How long does a bumper repair take?

A simple crack and repaint is about two days. A replacement with sensors and a fresh paint job can take up to five, and we give the estimate when we see the car.

Can the bumper be repaired if the paint has cracked?

Cracked paint on a flexible bumper usually means the bumper needs refinishing. A localised repair is possible if the underlying plastic is sound.
