Matte Paint Finish Service
A matte finish is made by using a special clear coat that scatters light instead of reflecting it. It gives a modern, flat look, but it behaves differently from gloss paint in every way that matters afterwards, from washing to repairs.

How we do matte paint finish service
- 1
Choose the finish level
Matte, satin and semi-gloss are different degrees of sheen. We show you sprayed samples because screens and brochures exaggerate the difference.
- 2
Prepare the surface to a higher standard
Matte shows every sanding scratch and high spot, so preparation under the colour is more demanding than for gloss.
- 3
Spray colour and matte clear
The base colour is applied normally and finished with a matte lacquer, with careful control of coat thickness for an even sheen.
- 4
Cure, inspect and explain care
Matte cannot be polished to hide defects, so the finish is inspected under angled light before handover, and you get a short care guide.
Why choose a matte finish
- You like the satin or matte look seen on performance cars
- A matte finish that has developed shiny patches where it rubbed or was polished
- A matte panel with a scratch that cannot be buffed out
- Bird droppings or fuel that have left a permanent stain on matte paint
- A mismatch between a repainted matte panel and the rest of the car
- Streaky shine marks where a brush wash or a rough cloth has rubbed the finish
What usually causes it
Matting agents sit on the surface
The flat look comes from microscopic texture in the clear coat. Rubbing, polishing or waxing smooths that texture and leaves shiny spots that cannot be reversed.
No polishing possible
On gloss paint, scratches are polished out. On matte paint, the only fix for a visible mark is respraying the panel in the same finish.
Sensitivity to contaminants
Bird droppings, tree sap and fuel spills etch matte clear more visibly than gloss and must be cleaned quickly.
In Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman
Matte care is a real commitment in the Gulf. Dust, bird droppings and sprinkler water all mark it, and automatic brush car washes are out, because they will burnish the surface. We recommend hand washing with a matte-safe shampoo and keeping the car under cover where you can. If you are changing colour as part of the job, read our colour change and approval pages first. Ask for the exact product names so you can buy a matching maintenance shampoo.
Questions about matte paint finish service
Can I use wax or polish on matte paint?
No. Both fill in the texture and create shiny patches. Use only products made for matte finishes.
Is matte harder to repair?
Yes, usually a whole panel must be resprayed, because a spot repair is difficult to blend invisibly in a flat finish.
Can an existing gloss car be changed to matte?
Yes, by repainting with matte clear over the colour. The surface under it must be in good condition.
Can I take a matte car through a car wash?
Brush washes can polish it and leave shiny streaks. Touchless or hand washing is safer.
Is a matte car more expensive to own?
Usually yes, because repairs cost more and care is stricter. Many owners accept that for the look, but it is worth knowing before you commit.
How do I remove bird droppings?
Soften them with a wet cloth and lift them off gently. Never scrub, since friction polishes the area and leaves a shiny mark.
Does matte paint fade faster than gloss?
Not necessarily, but fading is harder to correct because it cannot be polished. A UV-stable matte clear and shade parking are the best protection.
