Side Window Glass Replacement

Side and rear windows are made of toughened glass that breaks into small cubes, unlike a windscreen. When one goes, it leaves glass in the door, the seats and the carpets. The job is more than fitting a new pane: the door has to be cleaned out and the window mechanism checked.

Signs you need side window glass replacement

  • A smashed window after a break-in or a stone strike
  • A window that dropped into the door and will not come back up
  • A window that moves crookedly, scrapes, or jams
  • A shattered pane with tiny cubes of glass all through the cabin
  • A rear quarter or back window broken after heat or a knock
  • Chips at the edge of the side glass that have spread
  • Whistling from the door at speed after a window has been taped or covered for some time

What usually causes it

Theft or attempted theft

Toughened glass breaks with one sharp blow to the corner. A break-in often damages the door lock or trim at the same time.

Impact from objects

Stones thrown off lorries, a loose object in a car park, or a ball can fracture a side window, usually spreading across the whole pane.

Regulator and track failure

The mechanism that lifts the glass wears out, and a snapped cable or cracked plastic clip drops the window into the door.

Stress at the edge

A nick on the edge of toughened glass can later cause it to fail spontaneously, sometimes when the door is shut.

We remove loose glass from seats, carpets and vents, then take the door card off and clear fragments from inside the door.

Up and down travel, the one-touch function, the seal at the top and the door card are all checked and refitted.

Book side window glass replacement

In Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman

Never leave valuables visible in a parked car, and if the window is already broken, cover it with strong plastic and tape rather than leaving it open, as dust and rain get in. Parked in the heat with an open window, the interior takes damage fast. If the break-in followed a theft, keep the police report for insurance, and ask us to document the damage in writing.

Questions about side window glass replacement

Will the new glass match the tint?

Original glass has a factory tint. If your car has film on the other windows, we match it afterwards, and the details are on the quote.

Can you get glass for any car?

For most common models, yes, within a day or two. Rarer models take longer, and we say how long when you ask.

Can you vacuum all the glass out?

We clear the cabin and the inside of the door thoroughly. Tiny fragments can still turn up later in seat folds, so tell us if you find any.

Is a temporary cover available?

We can seal the window securely while the glass is ordered, which protects the interior.

Do you replace laminated side glass too?

Some newer cars use laminated side windows for sound insulation and security. We source the correct type, and note the difference on the quote.

Should I report a break-in before repair?

If it was theft, yes. Keep the police report and any photos for insurance, and we can document damage found when the door card comes off.
