Windshield Replacement
A modern windscreen is a structural part of the car. It is bonded with adhesive, helps hold the roof up in a rollover, and gives the passenger airbag something to bounce off. A replacement has to be done carefully, and on many newer cars the forward camera must be recalibrated afterwards.

Signs you need windshield replacement
- A crack longer than a few centimetres, or one that touches the edge of the glass
- Several chips, or one directly in front of the driver
- Pitting from years of sand that makes night driving glare unbearable
- Delamination or a hazy edge on the laminated layer
- A damaged windscreen after an accident or a break-in
- Lane-keeping or automatic braking messages after the glass was changed elsewhere
What usually causes it
Damage beyond repair
Long cracks, edge cracks and damage in the driver's view cannot be safely repaired. The strength of the glass is already compromised.
Sand-blasted surface
Driving behind trucks and in dust storms abrades the outer surface. The glass is not broken, but it scatters light, and the wipers make it worse.
Accident or impact
A front collision flexes the frame and cracks the glass. It may also need new adhesive and a check of the body around the pillars.
Rust at the glass edge
Water that gets under an old seal rusts the metal bonding surface, which weakens the new bond if left untreated.
How we do windshield replacement
- 1
Identify the exact glass
Rain sensor, heated area, acoustic layer, heads-up display and camera brackets all vary. We match the part from the VIN, and you can choose OEM or aftermarket glass, with the price on the quote.
- 2
Remove the old glass carefully
Trim and wipers come off, the adhesive is cut, and the glass is lifted without damaging the paint or dashboard.
- 3
Prepare the frame
Old adhesive is trimmed to a thin even layer, any rust is treated and primed, and the edges are cleaned.
- 4
Bond the new glass
Urethane adhesive is laid in a continuous bead, the glass is set, and moulding is clipped back on. The adhesive needs time before the car should be driven, which we confirm for the product used.
- 5
Recalibrate cameras and sensors
Where the car has a forward camera for lane assist or emergency braking, it is recalibrated to the new glass and tested.
By make and model
Cars with forward-facing camera systems
Many recent models from Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz and BMW use a windscreen-mounted camera that needs recalibration after glass replacement.
In Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman
Glass adhesive cures differently in high heat and humidity than in the temperature range printed on the label, so the workshop environment matters. We fit in a controlled space and tell you the minimum time before driving, which can be longer than you expect. Aftermarket glass can be a sensible saving, but we explain differences in clarity and sensor compatibility before you choose.
Questions about windshield replacement
How long before I can drive the car?
It depends on the adhesive. We give the specific time at handover. Avoid slamming doors and high-pressure car washes for a day or two.
Is calibration really necessary?
If your car has a camera behind the mirror for driver assistance, yes. An uncalibrated camera can misjudge lane position and distance.
Will the new windscreen match the tint strip?
The shaded band at the top is part of the glass spec, and we order it to match your car's original.
Is OEM glass worth the extra?
It guarantees the right spec. Aftermarket can be fine on simpler cars. For cars with HUD or camera systems we are cautious, and explain why on the quote.
Do I need new wipers or trim?
Clips and moulding are often replaced because they break during removal. If your wipers are worn, a new glass is a good moment to change them, and we list the items separately on the quote.
