Fluid Inspection & Top-Up

A car runs on about six or seven different fluids, and each one has its own specification. A fluid check reads level and condition. A fluid that is low means it is going somewhere, and finding out where is more useful than topping it up repeatedly.

How we do fluid inspection & top-up

  1. 1

Check all levels on level ground

Engine oil, coolant, brake and clutch fluid, power steering, automatic gearbox where checkable, and washer fluid are read at the correct temperature.

  2. 2

    Judge the condition

Colour, clarity and smell are compared with what that fluid should look like. Brake fluid and coolant can be tested for moisture and protection level.

  3. 3

Top up with the correct type

We use the specification your car requires and do not mix types. The quantity added is noted so you can see how fast it is disappearing.

  4. 4

Find the reason for any loss

If a level is clearly low, we check hoses, seals and joints for the source, and explain what repair, if any, is recommended.

Book fluid inspection & top-up

Signs it is time

  • A low-coolant or low-oil warning, or a temperature gauge creeping up in traffic
  • Puddles or wet patches under the car after parking
  • A sweet smell from the bonnet, or a burnt smell from the gearbox area
  • Heavy steering, or a whine when you turn the wheel
  • Washer jets that run dry, or hard shifting from an automatic
  • A gearbox that hesitates between gears when cold, which could indicate low or tired fluid

What usually causes it

Slow leaks

A hose clamp, seal or gasket that weeps a little each day empties a reservoir over weeks. The level slowly drops with no visible puddle.

Consumption

Some engines use a small amount of oil by design, but a rising rate points to wear. Coolant that disappears with no leak can mean a head-gasket problem.

Contamination

Milky oil, oily coolant or dark brake fluid tells us fluids are mixing or ageing. The colour and smell are clues we read.

Wrong fluid added

Mixing coolants of different types or adding the wrong gearbox oil can cause damage. Specification matters more than brand.

In Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman

Heat makes fluid problems show up quickly. A cooling system that is a little low in January can run hot by June, and a washer bottle filled with tap water can scale up. Dusty roads also mean washer fluid gets used much more than expected. Always use proper coolant mixed to the right strength, not plain water, because the additives protect against corrosion in a system that works hard all year.

Questions about fluid inspection & top-up

Can I top up coolant with water?

In an emergency, yes, to get home. For regular use, no, because it dilutes the protection. We test and correct the mixture.

How often should fluids be checked?

Oil and coolant levels monthly is a good habit. A full check is part of every service.

My oil level drops between services. Is that normal?

A small amount can be. If you need to top up often, tell us. We look for leaks or a wear issue.

Do you charge for the fluid?

Fluids are priced on the written quote when anything beyond a minor top-up is needed.

How do I tell if brake fluid needs changing?

Colour is a hint, but only a test shows moisture content. We check it with a tester and advise on the maker's interval.

Is power steering fluid a concern on newer cars?

Many newer cars use electric steering and have no fluid. If yours does, we check level and colour, since a low level is a sign of a leak.
