Headlight & Tail Light Repair
Working lights are a safety requirement and part of the annual RTA test. A light that fails is usually a bulb, but when a fresh bulb does not fix it the fault can be a ballast, a melted connector, a wiring or earth problem, or water in the housing.

Signs you need headlight & tail light repair
- One headlight out, or a beam that is dimmer than the other
- Lights flickering or cutting out over bumps
- A brake light or indicator that does not work, or blinks very fast
- Condensation or water droplets inside a lamp
- Daytime running lights or tail lights stay on after the car is switched off
- Bulb warning message on the dashboard
What usually causes it
Blown bulb or failed LED module
Halogen bulbs wear out and are cheap to replace. LED and xenon units fail differently: a single dead LED or driver may mean replacing the whole module.
Ballast or igniter failure on xenon headlights
HID lamps are powered by a ballast and an igniter. A failed ballast gives a flicker, a light that starts pink or purple then dies, or one that stays off.
Melted connectors and poor earths
Upgraded high-wattage bulbs overheat plastic sockets. A burnt connector or corroded earth drops voltage and the lamp dims or fails; fresh bulbs alone will not cure it.
Water ingress and cracked housings
A split seal or crack lets humid air in. The water corrodes reflectors and contacts and can short out LED circuits.
How we do headlight & tail light repair
- 1
Test the supply
We measure voltage at the lamp connector with the lights on. Good voltage with no light means a bad bulb or ballast; low voltage means a wiring, relay or earth fault.
- 2
Isolate the failed part
A known good bulb or ballast is swapped in to confirm. For LED units we check the driver module before condemning the whole lamp.
- 3
Repair wiring and housings
Burnt connectors are replaced, earths cleaned and secured, and cracked housings resealed or replaced. Condensation is dried and the cause fixed.
- 4
Aim and verify
After replacing a lamp, the beam aim is checked so it lights the road without dazzling others. All lights are then tested, including brake, reverse and indicator functions.
In Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman
Strong sun and heat age headlight housings: lenses cloud and yellow, seals crack and moisture creeps in. Dubai driving after dark on fast roads like Emirates Road depends on a good beam. If the lens is only cloudy, our headlight restoration service is a cheaper answer than a new lamp.
Questions about headlight & tail light repair
Will my car pass the RTA test with a dim headlight?
Lights must work and be correctly aimed. A dim beam, a lamp that is out or a badly aimed one risks a fail, so we check them before the test.
Why does my new bulb keep blowing?
Usually voltage is too high or the connector is poor. We measure the supply at the lamp and check the alternator output, because bulb failure can be the first sign.
Can xenon lights be repaired or only replaced?
Often just the bulb, ballast or igniter needs replacing, which is cheaper than a complete headlight. We test each part before suggesting the dearer route.
Can the work be done at my home?
Simple bulb changes sometimes can. Anything involving housings, bumpers or wiring is done at our workshop, using pickup and delivery.
Is it legal to drive with one brake light out?
It is a safety defect and a likely fine or test failure. A dead brake light also hides your braking from the driver behind, so it is worth fixing the same day.
