Fuse Box Repair

A fuse is a deliberate weak point that burns out to protect wiring from overload. If the same fuse keeps blowing, something downstream is drawing too much current, and the fix is to find it. A fuse box itself can also fail from corrosion, heat or water.

Signs you need fuse box repair

  • The same fuse blowing repeatedly, sometimes within minutes
  • One group of features dead at once: windows, central locking, sockets or lights
  • A burnt smell, melted plastic or brown marks around the fuse box
  • Relays clicking rapidly or not at all
  • Intermittent faults that change with bumps or damp weather
  • Green or white corrosion on fuse legs or terminals when you pull a fuse

What usually causes it

Short circuit in the wiring

A wire chafed against the body, trapped in a door hinge or damaged by a repair provides a direct path to earth and the fuse blows at once. The technician traces the circuit section by section.

Aftermarket accessories

Dash cams, amplifiers, tracking boxes and extra lights tapped into the wrong circuit overload it. Poor joins in these add-ons are a common source of heat and shorts.

Water ingress and corrosion

Moisture creeps into fuse boxes under the dash or bonnet, corrodes the contacts and raises resistance. The extra heat melts terminals and can cause shorts between circuits.

Loose or burnt terminals

A fuse that does not grip its terminals properly heats up, discolours and eventually fails, even though nothing downstream is wrong. Replacing the box or the terminal solves it.

How we do fuse box repair

  1. 1

Identify the circuit and the rating

From the wiring diagram we find which components share the fuse. We confirm that previous owners have not fitted a higher-rated fuse than specified, which is dangerous.

  2. 2

    Measure the load

With an ammeter we check how much current the circuit draws normally. If the load is right but the fuse fails, the fault is in the fuse holder or a short.

  3. 3

    Isolate the short

Components are unplugged one by one while a current limiter protects the wiring, until the short disappears. That narrows the fault to a single wire, connector or device.

  4. 4

    Repair terminals or the box

We repair the wiring, clean or replace corroded terminals, or fit a replacement fuse box or relay centre. Fuses are replaced only with the correct rating, and the circuit is tested under load.

In Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman

Humidity near the coast in Sharjah and Ajman, pressure-washing under the bonnet and flooded roads after heavy rain all drive moisture into connectors. After a car has driven through standing water or sat in a flooded car park, fuse and relay boxes are among the first things we inspect.

Questions about fuse box repair

Can I fit a bigger fuse?

No. The fuse is sized to protect the wire. A larger fuse lets the wire overheat before it blows, and that is how car fires start. We always fit the correct rating after finding the cause.

Why does my fuse blow only sometimes?

An intermittent short, such as a wire that touches the body on bumps or a damp connector, behaves this way. We simulate it by wiggling harnesses and checking the circuit under load.

Is a melted fuse box repairable?

Sometimes the burnt terminals can be replaced, otherwise the box or its relay centre is replaced. In some cars the fuse box also contains a body control unit, which changes the price.

Will you check my aftermarket gadgets?

Yes. We inspect how they were wired in, and if they are the cause, we tell you plainly and fit a proper fused feed.
