Paint Protection Film (PPF)

Paint protection film, or PPF, is a clear urethane film applied over the paint to take the hits that would otherwise chip or scratch it. It is invisible when fitted well, and it can be peeled off later. We prepare the paint, fit the film panel by panel and finish the edges so they do not lift.

How we do paint protection film (ppf)

  1. 1

Inspect the paint and agree the coverage

We check the paint under strong light. Film seals in whatever is under it, so existing defects are corrected first. You choose the coverage: front end only, high-impact areas, or the full car.

  2. 2

    Wash, decontaminate and prepare

The car is washed, the paint is clayed to remove bonded dirt, and the surface is wiped clean. Dust under film shows up as a bump forever, so the fitting area is kept clean.

  3. 3

    Fit panel by panel

Film is cut to the panel from a pattern, wetted with a slip solution, positioned and squeegeed flat. Edges are wrapped around the panel where possible so there is no visible line, and trim is lifted rather than cut around.

  4. 4

    Cure and hand over

The film needs time to dry and settle, and small water bubbles clear as it cures. We tell you how long to keep the car dry, when to wash it first and which products to avoid.

Why fit paint protection film

  • A new car, and you want the paint kept as it is
  • Stone chips on the bonnet, bumper and mirrors after every highway trip
  • Light scratches from car washes, keys and parking-lot contact
  • Paint on the front of the car going dull or hazy from road grit
  • A car you plan to keep or sell later, where paint condition affects value
  • Door edges, door cups and boot lips scuffed by nails and bags

What usually causes it

Stone chips at speed

On highway drives, gravel thrown by the vehicle ahead strikes the bonnet, bumper, mirrors and the lower doors. Chips go through the clear coat and open the way for rust, and once there they cannot be undone without repainting.

Wash marks and light scratches

Dust on the paint is dragged across it by a wash mitt or brush. Film can take those marks, and some films are able to recover from fine swirls with heat, depending on the product you choose.

Chemical and environmental damage

Bird droppings, insects and tar etch into bare clear coat. The film takes that attack instead, as long as the contamination is washed off in good time and does not stay baked on for weeks.

Sun exposure

Constant UV and heat dry out clear coat over the years. Film is not a replacement for care, but it adds a sacrificial layer on the panels that take the most direct sun, such as the bonnet and roof.

In Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman

Highway speeds on the E311, E611 and E11 throw grit at the front of the car all day, and construction sites around the emirates leave dust and cement spray on paint. Fitting film on a car with strong sun exposure also means we check how the product copes with summer heat and ask you to keep the car in shade while it cures.

Questions about paint protection film (ppf)

Is PPF the same as ceramic coating?

No. Ceramic coating is a thin chemical layer that makes the paint easier to clean and gives gloss. PPF is a physical film that absorbs impacts. Many owners fit film for chips and add a coating on top.

Can PPF be removed?

Yes. It is made to be peeled off, and the paint underneath should be in the condition it had when the film was fitted. Removal is done with heat, carefully, and old film that has aged may need more time.

Does it go yellow?

Cheap films can yellow with time. Quality films are made to resist it. We discuss the film options on your quote, and tell you what each is made to do.

Does the PPF cover the whole car?

Only if you ask for it. Many owners choose the front bumper, bonnet, wings, mirrors and headlights, where chips happen. The quote lists each panel so you decide what to cover.
