Colour Change Wrap
A colour change wrap swaps the visible colour of the car for a new one using vinyl, without touching the factory paint. Because colour is part of how the car is identified, the new colour has to be recorded with the licensing authority. We do the wrap and tell you what to do about the registration.

How we do colour change wrap
- 1
Choose colour and finish
We look at film samples on a panel of your own car in daylight, since a colour that looks right on a swatch can look different over the full car and under strong sun.
- 2
Plan the registration
We explain that the colour change is registered with the licensing authority. We can give you a record of the work done, and you check the current process and any requirements with them.
- 3
Wrap, including jambs if you ask
Panels are prepared and wrapped, and door jambs, bonnet edges and boot edges are done if you have chosen that option. Parts that can come off are taken off first for a cleaner result.
- 4
Inspect and hand over
We review every panel in daylight, fix any lifting or bubbles and give you aftercare advice. You get a record of the film used and the date, which is useful for the authority and for your insurer.
Why change colour with a wrap
- You want a completely different colour, not just a protective film
- You are bored of the factory colour but not ready to repaint
- A car in a colour that is hard to sell and you want something neutral
- You want a colour that the manufacturer never offered
- You want to keep the original paint intact for resale
- A repainted panel that no longer matches and you want a single uniform colour
What usually causes it
Coverage decides how convincing it looks
A wrap that covers only the outside panels shows the old colour when the doors or bonnet open. For a true change, you can ask us to include the door jambs and edges, which takes longer and costs more.
Dark to light and light to dark
Covering a dark car with a light film needs a good quality, opaque film and careful edge work. A thin film over a strongly coloured panel can show through, so we show samples on the car.
Registration of the new colour
A change of the main colour has to be registered with the licensing authority so the registration card matches the car. Requirements can differ by emirate and can change, so check with the authority.
Insurance and records
Tell your insurer about the change, because the car no longer matches its original description. It is a simple call, and it avoids questions at claim time.
In Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman
Colour is part of how a car is identified in the UAE, so a wrapped colour change is not just cosmetic. The authority decides what is required and the process can change over time. Ask them about your plan before you order the film, and keep your registration card and ID to hand.
Questions about colour change wrap
Do I have to tell the licensing authority?
Yes, for a change of the car's main colour. The change must be recorded so that the registration shows the new colour. Check the current requirement for your emirate before you start.
Does FixAnyCars handle the registration?
We do not grant or guarantee approval. You deal with the authority. We provide a record of the work and tell you what to prepare. Any charge by us is on the written quote, and the authority sets its own.
Is a wrap different from a paint colour change?
A wrap is a film on top of the paint and can be removed later. Paint is permanent. Both require the colour change to be recorded. Our painting pages cover the paint route.
Will the old colour show anywhere?
In places that are not wrapped, such as door jambs, under the bonnet or inside the boot, unless you choose to include them. We show you what each option covers before you decide.
