Camber Correction

Camber is the inward or outward tilt of a wheel when viewed from the front. Too much negative tilt wears the inner edge of the tyre, too much positive tilt wears the outer edge. Correcting it spreads the load across the tread and improves how the car feels in corners.

How we do camber correction

  1. 1

    Measure under correct ride height

Camber is read on the alignment rack with the car settled and tyre pressures correct. Loading and tyre size can change the numbers, so we set up carefully.

  2. 2

Find out whether it can be adjusted

Some cars have eccentric bolts or slotted holes. Others have none, and need camber bolts, adjustable arms or shims to bring angles back into range.

  3. 3

Replace worn or bent parts first

A control arm with worn bushes or a bent strut is replaced before correcting, as the adjustment will not hold otherwise.

  4. 4

    Adjust, then set toe

Camber changes toe, so toe is set last. We provide before and after readings and drive the car to confirm the tracking is straight.

Book camber correction

Signs it is time

  • Tyre worn heavily on the inner or outer shoulder while the centre is still good
  • A pull to one side that alignment of the toe alone did not remove
  • A lowered car with wheels visibly leaning inwards at the top
  • Different camber readings on left and right sides
  • Car that feels unstable or lacks grip in corners
  • A recent accident, spring replacement or suspension modification

What usually causes it

Lowered or modified suspension

Shorter springs change the geometry of the suspension and add negative camber. Most cars are not able to compensate without adjustable parts.

Sagging springs and worn bushes

Springs lose height with age and bushes soften. Both change the camber, particularly on one side, which creates a pull.

Bent suspension components

A kerb strike can bend a control arm or strut and tilt the wheel. Adjustment will not fix a bent part, so we inspect before correcting.

Accident or subframe shift

Structural movement after a collision changes the position of the whole suspension relative to the body, and may need measuring at the body level.

In Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman

Lowered and wide-wheeled cars are popular in the UAE, and they often run more negative camber than the factory intended, wearing inner tyre edges quickly. If you modified the suspension, a correctly set camber is worth more than a set of new tyres on the wrong angle.

Questions about camber correction

What camber is correct?

The figure depends on the car and its use. We use the manufacturer's range for standard cars, and discuss a sensible compromise for modified ones.

Is some negative camber good?

Slightly negative camber helps cornering grip, and many cars are designed with a little. Too much destroys the inner edge of the tyre.

Can camber be fixed without new parts?

Sometimes, with existing adjusters. Otherwise it needs bolts, shims or arms, and the quote names the parts and price.

Why does one tyre wear faster than the others?

A camber difference between sides, a pull or a worn part on one corner is the usual reason. We measure all four corners.

Will correcting camber save my tyres?

It stops further inner or outer edge wear, but cannot restore tread that has already gone. If one shoulder is nearly bald, we tell you whether replacing the tyre first makes sense.

Can a car with air or coilover suspension be corrected?

Yes, but the ride height must be set first, because camber changes with it. We agree the height with you before measuring, so the result suits how the car is used.
