What Is an ECU?

Modern cars have between 10 and 100 separate control modules; the ECU is the most significant for power output and fuel consumption.

What Is ECU Tuning (Remapping)?

ECU tuning — also called engine remapping or chipping — involves reading the factory calibration stored in the ECU and rewriting it with a modified map. Manufacturers typically set conservative default maps to account for the widest possible range of fuel quality, operating temperatures, and maintenance standards across global markets. A skilled tuner rewrites these parameters for your specific vehicle, fuel quality, and driving conditions.
